Multitasking on steroids

Texting while driving is dangerous. We all know that. But for a moment, consider what a cop has to manage on the road: obvoiusly driving at a sometimes high rate of speed, lights, sirens, MDT (multi-display terminal, or laptop), radio, spotlight, oh, and the person they’re pursuing…you can understand that dangers of managing so much. As drivers, we have to be aware of what’s in front of us and what’s behind us, and if that happens to be an emergency vehicle, do us all a favor and pull to the side and give a wide berth to someone who really needs it.

  1. I agree. Some people have the ability to multi-task. Pilots are a good example as are police officers. Pilots must guide their aircraft by maintaining course in three directions (not just one like a car)while at the same time communicating with ATC and managing a multitude of instruments. Obviously doable but only with hours of training.

Others unfortunately cannot walk and chew gum at the same time. Putting them behind the wheel is dangerous enough. Putting a cell phone and other gadgets at their disposal is a disaster waiting to happen.

Put up your cell phones while in a moving vehicle. Get a blue-tooth headset or a car with blue-tooth. And most of all, yield when you hear sirens and see flashing lights.
